Corporate Profile

Sekisui America Corporation has one overriding corporate goal: to use advanced technology to advance the quality of life. As you page through this site, you'll see this goal at work in the products and components we manufacture.

But first, it's important to know that our corporate goal is one passed down from our parent company, Sekisui Chemical Co.,Ltd.

Now a name synonymous in Japan with quality and high-technology, Sekisui Chemical Co.,Ltd. has been a consistent pioneer. We have excelled in the fields of Plastics and Polymer Sciences; Ceramics; Electronic, Medical and Bio-Technologies; Chemicals; Construction and Industrial Materials. Our most direct application of technology to the living environment is Modular Housing. In Japan, we are recognized as a leading manufacturer in the field, consistently bringing the latest technological advances in modular houses and apartments to demanding consumers.

In housing, as in all other areas, research and development is heavily stressed. As a result, Sekisui Chemical Co.,Ltd., files approximately 700 patent and license applications every year. Our newest technical centers include the Housing Research Laboratories, Applied Electronics Laboratory and Kyoto Technology Center, which utilizes the most advanced CAD/CAM/CAE computer technology in the world.

As Sekisui continues to grow, we are developing technological living solutions on a truly international scale. Today 16 subsidiaries operate tri-regionally, in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

In 1962, Sekisui Chemical Co.,Ltd., opened a representative office in New York City. After two decades of expansion in the U.S., all of the company's operations were consolidated to form Sekisui America Corporation in 1983. Today, by following a policy of creating products that meet market-specific needs, the corporation has grown to major-player status in a number of business categories. Sekisui America Corporation's activities cover import, export, manufacturing, sales and R & D. Products include housing materials, wall coverings, films and tapes, chemicals, and medical reagents and equipment.
